“ Bhamakalapam ” è forse il “ kalapam ” più famoso nel repertorio delle opere tradizionali presentate dai “ bhagatavulu ”, gli esperti attori-danzatori che avevano la loro residenza presso il piccolo villaggio di Kuchelapuram, o Kuchipudi (attuale Andhra Pradesh) , dal quale questa forma d’arte prende nome. Attualmente, di questa ricca e raffinata versione orientale di teatro-danza, si presentano unicamente degli estratti danzati. Per la prima volta in Italia, viene presentata un’opera completa di danza, recitazione e canto. Siddhendra Yogi, l’autore di quest’opera, vissuto forse nel XIV sec., è considerato il padre fondatore of this form of dance, as it came down to our days, although previously already existed in this region of India, forms of dance and theater devoted primarily to the figure of the god Shiva. With Siddhendra Yogi became instead the popular cult linked to the god Vishnu and his incarnations, especially the ' avatar "of Krishna. In the dialogues of the characters and the nature of this form of dance, there are many similarities with our Commedia dell'Arte.
